Goodbye

Wednesday September 29th marked the passing of my dear friend and co-publisher of this blog, Ava R. Huff. She touched many of you in our ward. Who will forget the last Relief Society lesson she taught about the priesthood? Her ghost stories at girls camp? How many of our children did she teach in primary?
I learned so much from her. She always put her family's needs before her own. She loved her husband, her children and grandchildren, her parents, siblings and nieces and nephews and certainly not least, her dog C.J.. Lamar had a hot home cooked meal waiting when he came home to her from work every night. I'll always remember them sitting together on the front porch swing. She loved and worried about her children. Enjoyed and tended her grandchildren. Sorely missed her parents. Liked having her siblings and their families at her house. Sometimes I wondered how that many people could fit in that little house. There was always room for one more, for overnight or months, it didn't matter.
I'll miss her running barefoot across the street to my house to see something I had made. Sampling her cooking and seeing the next new painting she had done for someone special. I'll never see a yard sale sign without thinking of Ava. She introduced me to Beto's for breakfast on saturday mornings and was always willing to help me with Relief Society.
I'll miss you dear friend. Goodbye, until I see you again.
Lisa

Viewing will be at Walker Mortuary Sunday night.
Funeral services will be held in our ward building Monday at 11:00 a.m.

Thank you to all the sisters that made pie. The crafts were top rate and everyone won a blue ribbon. It's so much fun getting to know other sides to the sisters. Chocolate Appreciation

Well I have always had a great appreciation for the power of chocolate, but now the power of chocolate has taken new heights. The wonderful chocolate recipes that were brought and tried took the saying "death by chocolate" to a new meaning. I know now that that is the way I want to go, a brownie in each hand and a chocolate dipped strawberry in my mouth. Oh yeah. I am not alone in my feelings because we had an awesome turn out. We even had a couple of strays from the stake, and we hope they indulged too. Thanks to everybody who brought their wonderful chocolate dishes and recipes. It was a very delicious night.

Do not come between a woman and her Purse

Wednesday night May 5th was a real fun party. All the women had to have their purse's weighed. I thought for sure mine would be the heaviest because everybody in my family have told me I have everything but the kitchen sink in it. My purse did not even come close to the winning purse, mine weighed in at 2 pounds. Kaye Stewart's weighed in as a bouncy baby of 10 pounds. I would think twice before insulting Kaye when she was holding her purse. Lisa Dunn came close with 6 pounds, and if you want to see everything but the kitchen sink Kristen Prior's purse had real odd and scary things in it. They always tell you to watch out for the quiet ones.
The menu was Taco Salad with fried ice cream for desseret. Marietta, Irene and Kim did an awesome job on that. The table decorations were so cute and that was thanks to Daurie Kendell.
Michelle and Haley were in charge of the games and they were a blast. Thanks to everyone for their hard work. And thanks to the rest of you for coming and playing.
